Chapter I - General Provisions
Overview
Chapter I (sections 1 to 12) sets out the general provisions of the Constitution. Part I establishes the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the supremacy of the Constitution, and the prohibition of anyone taking control of government except in accordance with the Constitution. Part II sets out the powers of the Federal Republic, the separation of powers between the legislature, executive and judiciary, and the status of international treaties.
